Some sperm banks, such as Fairfax Cryobank and Cryogenic Laboratories, have refused to give donors their donor numbers. Some people have lost paperwork or cannot get their donor numbers from their sperm banks and/or clinics. Other sperm banks and clinics have closed their doors.

If you need to look up a donor number, you can try the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine (http://www.archive.org). Just enter your sperm bank's URL to see a collection of archived pages, including donor profiles. It's worth a try.
